Petition in Support of
Workplace Religious Freedom Act, S-2572
We, the undersigned, people of diverse faiths, do petition our representatives
in the United States Congress to enact the Workplace Religious Freedom Act,
an act necessary to protect the rights of conscience, in particular, the
right not to be forced to choose between one’s religion and one’s job.
This Act will require employers to do what they are already capable of doing,
but all too often unwilling to do – to reasonably accommodate the religious
practices of workers, so long as such an accommodation does not impose an
undue hardship on the employer.
Freedom of conscience is fundamental to American society. Employers should
not be allowed to require employees to violate the integrity of their beliefs
and conscience as a condition of continued employment with impunity, as under
current law.
